MANAGED SERVICES:
SAP Business One
on AWS

Defining the Core of the Service Offering:

The What, Who, and How

Pyramid Consulting, with more than 20 years of experience and as an SAP Silver Partner, provides the end-to-end management of SAP Business One running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.

Our focus is on Consulting, Implementation, and 24x7 Managed Services, freeing your IT team from the operational burden of maintaining infrastructure.

  1. REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE

1. Service Details: The “What” and the Value Proposition

Our offering is built on a Managed Services model (IaaS/PaaS), where we deliver the technical expertise and operational support layer over the AWS cloud platform.

Key Use Case Differentiated AWS Value Proposition AWS Services Involved
Business Continuity (DR/HA) 24x7 availability and disaster recovery capabilities with defined RTO/RPO, mitigating downtime risks. Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS (snapshots), AWS Backup, Amazon S3
Scalability and Performance Dynamic adjustment of compute and storage (IOPS) resources based on demand, avoiding hardware overprovisioning. Amazon EC2 (vertical scaling), Amazon CloudWatch (proactive monitoring)
Secure Access Use of temporary credentials that automatically expire for support operations, minimizing long-term credential exposure. AWS IAM (Cross-Account Roles and Kraken Workflow), AWS Security Hub

Core Value Proposition: “SAP Business One on AWS Cloud allows you to focus on your business, not your infrastructure. You gain a secure, scalable, and always up-to-date environment — achieving agility, financial control (FinOps), and full availability from anywhere.”

2. Target Customers and Characteristics: The “Who”

Our managed services are designed for organizations seeking to optimize operations and ensure a secure, certified ERP platform in the cloud.

Customer Characteristic Profile and Description Immediate Benefit
SMB Segment Small and Medium Businesses (5–300 licensed SAP B1 users). Agile, cost-optimized solutions that grow with your business.
IT Needs Companies with limited internal IT resources and/or without robust local SAP infrastructure. Removes IT operational burden and provides access to 24x7 specialized support.
Industry Sector Light manufacturing, distribution, logistics, professional services, and retail. Industry best practices applied to key business process flows.
Expansion Multi-branch organizations seeking to centralize ERP operations with 24x7 global access. Standardization and real-time access to business-critical data from any device.

3. Customer Engagement and Delivery Mechanism: The “How"

Service delivery follows a formal Continuous Technical Management methodology (Authorized VAR) aligned with ITIL standards, divided into two phases: Implementation/Transition and Continuous Operation.

Reference Architecture (AWS Well-Architected Framework):

La arquitectura es diseñada para la Fiabilidad y Seguridad, siguiendo las mejores prácticas de AWS.

  • High Availability: Multi-AZ design to distribute application and database servers (HANA/SQL), protecting workloads from single points of failure.
  • Layered Security: AWS VPC for network isolation and Security Groups acting as a virtual firewall.
Phase Key Process Formal Deliverable to Customer
1.
Assessment & Design
Current landscape review (OS, HANA/SQL, B1, users). Architecture design and sizing plan on AWS. Assessment Report and Solution Architecture Document (client-approved).
2.
Implementation/Migration
AWS infrastructure deployment, SAP B1 installation/migration, and functional testing. Functional Validation Report and Go-Live Sign-off.
3.
Operational Transition
Knowledge transfer to support team, configuration of 24x7 monitoring, backup, and DR policies. Operational Handover Report (start of SLA measurement).
4.
Continuous Operation
24x7 incident and request management, performance analysis, and cost optimization (FinOps). Monthly Business Review (MBR) report with SLA compliance and improvement recommendations.

4. Technical Capabilities and Expertise – The “How” in Detail"

A. AWS Technical Expertise for SAP Business One

Our technical competency is formally established and focused on the critical AWS services that ensure stable SAP Business One operations:

Service Area AWS Service Expertise Description
Compute Amazon EC2 Proper instance sizing (T, M, R families) for SAP Business One workloads and cost optimization.
Storage Amazon EBS and Amazon S3 Configuration of high-performance volumes (Provisioned IOPS or gp3) for databases (SQL Server, HANA). Backup and DR design.
Networking Amazon VPC and Route 53 Creation of isolated networks, subnets, gateways, and DNS configurations for SAP environments.
Security AWS IAM and Security Hub Secure identity and access management, cross-account roles for support, and compliance monitoring.
Monitoring Amazon CloudWatch Implementation of performance and security alerts (e.g., root account activity).

B. Security and Account Governance (Auditable Procedures)

We guarantee client environment security through the following principles:

  • Secure Access Mechanism: Access is performed using trusted cross-account IAM roles, allowing consultants to assume client-defined roles with granular permissions — without sharing long-term credentials.
  • Principle of Temporality: All credentials are temporary and automatically expire (typically within one hour), enforcing reauthentication and minimizing exposure.
  • Auditability and SoD (Segregation of Duties): Every session is logged via AWS CloudTrail, ensuring full traceability. Roles are defined with granular permissions (e.g., support technicians can access the application instance but not billing).
  • Initial Governance Controls: Each new AWS account is configured with MFA on the root account, CloudTrail logging, and critical CloudWatch alerts (e.g., root account usage, unexpected billing thresholds).

C. Delivery Model (Managed IaaS/PaaS)

Our SAP Business One solution is delivered under a Managed Services model built on AWS IaaS/PaaS.

  • Compliance Clarification: Since Pyramid Consulting manages the complete SAP Business One stack within the client’s AWS account (IaaS/PaaS), and not a standardized multi-tenant SaaS model, our solution does not require AWS’s Foundational Technical Review (FTR) typically applied to pure SaaS offerings.
